This course is designed for advanced ESL students who wish to expand their vocabulary knowledge and build reading fluency. 

The focus will be on using context, instead of dictionary, to figure out meaning of new vocabulary!

Course aims
  • aim 1 | learn new techniques for understanding vocabulary in context without using a dictionary
  • aim 2 | use examples, synonyms, antonyms and general sense of the text as context clues
  • aim 3 | practice finding meanings of new vocabulary by using context clues
  • aim 4 | discuss the importance of vocabulary in context with your other learners.
